Think he wears his pants a bit too baggy?

Filed under: Munchkin, general insanity - Taffi @ 9:41 pm

I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m a tad on the heavy side. (OK, I’m fat.) Munchkin is rather slim. As in, he’s 5′4" and about 115 pounds. Keep that in mind…

For the past week or so I’ve been looking for my favorite pair of jeans. I washed them and then they seemed to disappear - I even cleaned up my closet & got all the clean clothes put away! (Gasp. I know.) I couldn’t figure out where they went.

Today as I was sorting the baskets of dirty laundry, I found my jeans.

In Munchkin’s basket.

And they were dirty.

I laughed and called out to him, "Hey, Munchkin, how did these jeans fit you?" He asked, "Which ones?" I held them up.

"Oh, those? I had to use a belt. They were kinda baggy."

"Yeah, I think maybe you wear your jeans a little too baggy."

"Why?"

"Because those were my jeans! You wore ‘mom’ jeans and you never noticed?"

I laughed for a good five minutes over that one.

Karma found me today

In the form of toilet paper.

And a lot of it.

These girls were good. (Why do I say girls? Well, seriously - when was the last time you heard of teenage boys TPing other teenage boys? LOL) They paid a lot of attention to detail (they even got the hoses on the side of the house). And either they are freakishly tall or they brought a ladder - because the TP was wound around branches at the top of the snowball bush (the big tree looking thing at the corner of the porch) - there’s no way that was randomly tossed back and forth. The only thing that made me a little irked was the sacrifice of several cans of diet Pepsi taken from our stash on the front porch, tucked around the yard like Easter eggs, after they’d been opened and poured over the TP. (Attempting to make the TP all soggy & hard to clean up… but by this morning, it was all evaporated and the TP was no worse for the wear.) At least it was diet & not sticky… and I really should have moved it to the garage with the rest of the pop instead of being lazy & leaving it by the door.

But considering all the countless houses I’ve TPed and forked and windshields I’ve baconed & buttered & floured as a teen…. I can’t be mad. It’s just Karma! LOL

Happy Birthday, Princess!

Filed under: Sweet Girl, general insanity, cake - Taffi @ 11:01 pm

Miss Sweet Girl turned 5 today.

She started the fun by going out to lunch with her auntie. When she returned, she was wearing a beautiful princess gown!

She also got a fun sparkly manicure.

Grandma gave her a princess throne. You can’t really see it, but that’s because she’s always in it.

Her cake was a pink crown with jewels.

I can’t believe my Sweet Girl is so big. Time sure flies.

Ch-ch-ch-changes….

Filed under: Kiddo, Little Man, general insanity - Taffi @ 8:15 pm

How does that song go? I only have a little bit of the chorus in my head, from some commercial or something. Anyway…

We’ve had a few changes in the house the past couple of days.

Change #1: Kiddo got his braces off today!

Monday night…

Tuesday morning!

It’s been funny to watch him eat… he’ll take a bite, then automatically start to do those funny lip movements that he did when he was getting food out of his braces - then stop and say, Oh yeah…

Yesterday, he bought gum & caramels at the store, in anticipation of getting them off. I told him he was only setting himself up for the orthodontist to say, "Hmmm, they’re not quite perfect… you’ll need another 2 months before we can remove them." He looked at me like I’d shot him, LOL. This afternoon he came home and ate an apple by biting into it and is requesting corn on the cob soon… LOL.

Change #2: Reminiscent of my friend Rachelle’s little boy - who waited until she blogged about him not reaching a developmental milestone before he decided to start doing it (crawling? can’t quite remember - sorry, Rachelle) - Little Man waited about two days after I posted how to communicate with him to remove "meech" from his vocabulary and replaced it with the more standard "dank oo" and "yore elcom".

Anxious to show this off, tonight while visiting my mom I handed Little Man some blocks. "Dank oo," he obliged. "Little Man, can I have some blocks?" I asked. "Boo squayah!" he said, handing me a blue rectangular block. "Thank you!" I said, still holding my hand out. He looked at me, sighed, and handed me another, saying, "wed one!" "Thank you…" I said, still hoping for a ‘you’re welcome.’ He handed me yet another… "Thank you," I said. "Now what do you say?" He looked at me and said, "Too much bwocks, Mom!" and took them all back!

Change #3: the flippin’ weather. Last week it was really warm (in the 80s, even). This week, not so much. Cold, cold wind. Some rain. The local ski resort got another foot of snow. Did I mention it’s spring break week here?

Change #4: this one may or may not be happening. DH is waiting to hear whether or not he’ll be moving to Virigina for a year on a temporary assignment for work. If they transfer him, he’ll be gone by mid-April. I hate, hate, hate not knowing. I’m ok with him going… it’s the not knowing if we can plan a trip to Lagoon in May that’s driving me nuts.

Change #5: Sweet Girl turns five tomorrow! We’re having a princess party in her honor. Should be fun.

Kid funny (before I forget)

Filed under: Kiddo, Munchkin, Sweet Girl, general insanity - Taffi @ 2:46 pm

We had another busy day, and I’ll blog about that after I get the photos cleaned up. But first, before I forgot about it, I wanted to blog about the kid funny I heard on our way home….

Kiddo was driving (gotta get those 50 hours of practice in!) and was complaining about the bumpy back-country road. Munchkin piped up with, "Ya know, on Mythbusters, they proved that it’s not as bumpy if you go faster." Just as Kiddo pretended to start to speed up, Sweet Girl said, "Don’t drive faster than your guardian angel can fly… that’s what I always say!"

Needless to say, we drove the speed limit home.
