I guess she got me on that one

Filed under: general insanity - Taffi @ 9:14 pm

Sweet Girl was playing a word game with me tonight, where I was supposed to guess the word she was thinking of, based on hinted letters. (Yes, she starts games like this all the time. She’s weird. LOL) She also does variations, like, "I’m thinking of a word… the first letter is in car, but not in bar. The second letter is in pot, but not in pat…." and so on, until I’ve spelled Constantinople. (OK, so her words are usually more like cat, dog, card, etc., but still… she’s not normal.) Tonight’s variation was, "Guess what I’m thinking of… the letters are in BUG, but not in POPCORN."

Me: Sweet Girl, they don’t share letters.
SG: Yeah. The letters are in ‘bug’, but they aren’t in ‘popcorn’.
Me: There aren’t any shared letters in those words!
SG: Then what’s the word?
Me, pulling out a piece of paper and writing down ‘bug’ and ‘popcorn’: Look! The letters in ‘bug’ are completely different than the letters in ‘popcorn’!
SG: I know! What word has letters in ‘bug’ but not ‘popcorn’?
Me, through clenched teeth, because she just.wasn’t.getting.it: Sweetie. These words are.completely.different. BUG and POPCORN do not have any of the same letters. *sigh* What is the word you’re thinking of? I give up.
SG: Bug. See? The letters are in BUG, but not in POPCORN! I was thinking of the word BUG!

She’s gonna be the death of me.

or drink, actually.

Yesterday morning DH stopped off and got two gallons of milk.

Tonight I had to run up to the store and get two more, since we were out.

Within 5 minutes a half gallon was gone.

*flush* <—- that would be the sound of money going down the drain…

*sigh*

more Sweet Girl goodness

So the other night I actually got around to cleaning up the toys that have taken over the living room. I found some intriguing things in the doll house. Maybe it was because it was after midnight, but I was so baffled by these items that I felt the need to photograph and blog them…

At least she put the dolls down for bed… too bad none of them belong in this dollhouse. Take, for instance, the very large baby on the second floor…

A little hint of Gulliver’s Travels, don’t you think?

But what on earth is on its head?

Hmmmm. A bike knee pad. Intriguing idea for a pillow, I must admit.

Next I noticed Tinkerbell laying there on the bed, behaving herself so nicely…

Come to think of it, maybe the reason she’s being so still is that she can’t move…?

Saturday afternoon I came home from stake choir practice to find Sweet Girl, perched on her throne, on the love seat, doing Munchkin’s hair. Now this is brotherly love, I tell you…

Another magnadoodle masterpiece by her highness. In case you can’t read it, this is titled "Inside of a hippo!"

See the little heart in the middle? All the other lines are the veins, she said. I love the teeth, personally. Although, I am a little afraid of the vein leading from the heart directly to the tail…

OK, I think that’s about it for a while… I haven’t edited Easter pics yet, I might just end up skipping those this year! LOL

where do I start?

I guess I could start with the Sweet Girl snippets I’ve been writing down on an index card.

#1

As I was leaving to go to WalMart to buy snacks for our Lagoon trip, I asked Sweet Girl if she wanted to come along. "Why?" she asked. "What all are you getting?" "Just some snacks for our trip," I replied. "Oh, well then… nope," she said. "I thought you liked going shopping with Mommy?" I asked. "I do," she said. "But only when there’s toys involved."

#2

After she got home from preschool, she was showing me the day’s papers. One of them was a dinosaur coloring page, with only a couple splashes of color on it.

SG: I didn’t have time to finish it.
Me: I see that. Well, you can always finish it here.
SG: Ehhh.
Me: What, don’t you want to finish coloring it?
SG: That’s a boring dinosaur. I only like dinosaurs that do ballet.

#3

She and Munchkin were having a friendly sibling argument in the back seat over whether or not she had a chicken butt. (You can thank my sister for starting that one.)

"Sweet Girl’s got a chicken butt!" squealed Munchkin in glee. "No I don’t!" retorted Sweet Girl.

"Yes she does."

"No I don’t."

"Yes she does."

(I’m going to skip a few rounds. Trust me, you’re not missing much.)

"Sweet Girl’s got a chicken butt… bawk, bawk!"

*Heavy sigh heaved* "What. Ever."

Pause.

"That means stop, you know."

Let’s see… in other news, we went to Lagoon a couple weekends ago. Yep, it’s officially spring - the To-Do Family has made their inaugural trip to Lagoon! LOL We got Little Man his own season pass this year. He didn’t enjoy all the rides, but the rides he liked - hoo boy, did he like! His obsession with all things cars-related was in full force, as we made round after round after round on the guided cars ride. Phooey - those pics aren’t edited yet. I’ll add those later.

On the way home, we finally did something we’ve been saying we should do "sometime"… we stopped at the Malad Gorge scenic overlook. At sunset. Gorgeousness. The photos do not in any way portray the depth of that gorge!

There’s a cool waterfall waaay in the back.

Kiddo and Munchkin searching for projectiles

Yes, those are cow patties they’re tossing into the gorge. They were tossing stuff to see how long it took to reach the bottom.

And then I sanitized them! LOL

Oh, and don’t you just *love* the bird poo on the informational placard? *shudder* This was a little hike off the parking area - if you look in the background, you can see the rust-colored bridge you walk across - and to the right of the bridge (center of photo) there is a little dark blur. That would be our honkin’ huge dark red truck, looking smaller than a toy from this distance.

The family walking back across the bridge. The minivan is on the freeway.

Speaking of it being springtime, I got some great pics of Sweet Girl and Little Man playing outside the other day…

"Whatzat?"

I know he’s my kid, but I just can’t get enough of those chocolate eyes!

Sweet Girl has always had a thing for dandelions. She was ecstatic to see that this year’s crop is coming on nicely, lol.

"I wish…." (that the veins in my forehead didn’t show up so much? LOL)

Today was a spectacular day for Kiddo. He’s legal now!!

In fact, he’s driving Munchkin to baseball practice as I speak… ahh, bliss.

And last (for this post anyway, it’s already gargantuan length… I have another great post full of Sweet Girl goodness) but not least… my sweet sister had a birthday yesterday!!

She got quite a bit of good loot! And just because I thought it was cute, here’s the card I made her…

My fingertips are still stained yellow! LOL

My mom made her a really cute cake. (IdahoMomma collects teapots.)

And we all met at a great local Mexican restaurant for dinner. Yeah, she’s gonna kill me for this.

But it’s worth it. I love you, sis!

I’ve been very busy, with lots of bloggable events happening, but I’ve been too busy to blog.

Soon, I promise. Lots of pics.
